By the time Deidara returned, everyone had eaten and left, but two men’s voices echoed up to him as he approached the kitchen. One was Pein’s, and the other’s was unrecognizable.

When they arrived in Amegakure, Konan led Deidara into the department store. What Deidara found creepy was the fact that everywhere they went, every store they turned in to, people were bowing down to Konan. ‘Weird, un. Maybe I don’t spend as much time in the Amegakure base as I should, un,’ he thought grabbing a cart and placing Sasori into it.
“Why are they bowing un?” Deidara asked, wheeling the cart after Konan.

Pein turned in surprise. “Sasori?” He gingerly took the baby from Konan and held him at arms length. “This thing is Sasori?” He flipped the baby upside down, ignoring Deidara and Konan’s gasps. “It’s too small to be-”
“WAHHHHHHHH!!!! Ahhn! Ahhhhnnnnnn!!!!!” Sasori wailed, thrashing in Pein’s grip. Pein dropped the baby like he was a bomb, and Deidara dived to catch the sobbing infant.

The flight back was a blur in Deidara’s mind. He had grabbed the baby and hightailed it out of the cave, jumping on the clay bird that awaited him to fly home. He then snuck in late, the baby bundled in his cloak, and slunk down the dark hallways to his room.
